Costa Rica has been growing coffee since the early 19th century. The Costa Rican government highly encouraged the entire country to grow coffee by giving away free seeds. For many years, coffee was their sole export, which has financed and expanded the industry. The early coffee economy boom has paved way to a variety of infrastructure including the National Theatre and University of Santo Tomas.
Costa Rica has a very good reputation for producing high quality coffee. Farmers have invested in Micro Mills which gives them absolute control over the quality of the beans. This also means producing a wide variety of flavours!
This particular coffee is from the Tarazzu Region, known to produce specialty grade coffee. Coffee in this region is grown at an altitude of 1,200-1900m and harvest season runs from November to March.
